Meet the Committee

CHAIR OF THETFORD NETBALL CLUB –  KATE CLEMENTS

Welcome to our club website and all the exciting events and opportunities we have ahead. It’s been as astoundingly testing few years and having now been voted in as Chair since September 2021, it finally feels like we can all forge ahead. Our 3 girls have now been part of the club for a few years and being able to meet many passionate members of the club and welcome new seniors and juniors is very rewarding.

We are driven to make sure all our members feel safe and supported and the well being of every individual in every age group, squad or league they are training in.  Along with being an accountant of our transport company, I am also a school governor at a church school in Thetford and a smaller Suffolk school.

As a committee member of our club our role is to support the strategic direction,  making sure decisions made offer an inclusive, sporting, supportive and welcoming centre of netball  for every member. Reviewing a number of policies from Safeguarding, Wellbeing and Grievance policies.

These policies also assist us when monitoring the club and supporting the strong, strategic drive of our exciting and ever evolving club that offers every player an interest to learn and achieve their best.

An imperative part of our role is the wellbeing of all and this has become even more prevalent after the last two years. It also highlights how well our coaches and committee members have juggled so much to allow all to feel safe and able to flourish.  Our ongoing commitment to the whole community through effective communication of our expectations and what we can offer to allow all to grow and achieve their very best will always be our driving force.

The moments of pride you may capture when attending a training session, a tournament or a moment of kindness from a child to one that is struggling are a blessing and we hope a reason you enjoy our inclusive community.

Hopefully you will see us around much more now, but if you would like to learn anything more and become more involved then please don’t hesitate.

Club secretary – Susie Bratby
I have been playing netball since I was about 7 and have never stopped! I played for Kent county and then at university I was the 1st Team Captain. Over the years I have umpired and more recently have completed my Level 1 and 2 coaching qualification. I joined TNC in September 2022 which I have loved. It is great to be able to help the club through my role as secretary.

Julie Amys – Membership Secretary

I joined Thetford Netball Club in 1989 when the club was called Jeyes and have seen many changes over the years.  I have played in both the A and B teams throughout my time at the club.  I took on the role of Secretary in 2018.

Philippa(Phil) James – Vice Chair & officiating secretary seniors.

I have been part of Thetford netball club for several years. I have been playing netball since the age of 10 and have represented my county Norfolk when I was 16-18. At the age of 40 I continue to play and umpire. When did I start umpiring…. I can’t remember it’s that long ago, but what I do know is that I love it. I am a C award umpire and I also mentor beginner umpires and those who are striving for their C award. I can also assess beginner umpires. Most people shy away from umpiring within the sport, but I find it so rewarding and it’s helped me massively within my own game. #TeamWhite

Hello,

My name is Louise & I am the new club Treasurer.

This is my first Treasurer role- my full-time job, for the last 23 years, is an accountant for a Brewery- so it has made a refreshing change to swap Malt & Hops for subs & petty cash.

Both my daughters are junior players at the club.

My hobbies are genealogy, reading & gardening.

I love the friendly, family atmosphere of Thetford Netball Club.

Zara Veasey – Publicity officer and Fundraising/social coordinator

It is my job to promote the Club, what we do for our community and also what we are achieving as a club. I have been playing netball from a very young age. I started back at Thetford 3 years ago after having a break from netball to have children. Since then I have progressed on to complete my level one coaching qualification, I am also the captain of Thetford senior B team and play in the regional team. I have always had a passion for netball I love the competitive edge and sense of achievement you get out of the sport. I am also looking forward to progressing my coaching in the future with the club.

Gill Alexander- junior fixtures secretary

have a very long netball career, as can be seen from my post as a Coach. I hope to be able to help in moving this fantastic club forward to even greater heights in the future.
