Sarah Nichol – Chair
I started playing netball at school when I was 10 years old and after my PE teacher suggested I should join a club, I started to play for Jeyes (our old name) at 11. Even when I was at uni, I would come in the holidays to train and so have been playing for the club for 26 years. I know what you’re thinking, she barely looks old enough! It must be the exercise that has kept me so youthful. I have seen the club in many different forms, where we were struggling to put a single team out, to where we are today with flourishing junior and senior sections. Netball is a very important part of my life, both mentally and physically. With the support and help of this club, I’ve been able to represent Norfolk & Suffolk at County level, both the City and university of Edinburgh and I’m still aspiring to play at Regional level! It’s a great honour for me to be elected as chair of this club to hopefully give back, a little, to a club that has given so much to me over the years, and will hopefully continue to do so!!
Julie Amys – Secretary
I joined Thetford Netball Club in 1989 when the club was called Jeyes and have seen many changes over the years. I have played in both the A and B teams throughout my time at the club. I took on the role of Secretary in 2018.
Philippa(Phil) James – umpiring secretary.
I have been part of Thetford netball club for 13 plus years. I have been playing netball since the age of 10 and have represented my county Norfolk when I was 16-18. At the age of 40 I still continue to play and umpire. When did I start umpiring….I can’t remember it’s that long ago, but what I do know is that I love it. I am a C award umpire and I also mentor beginner umpires and those who are striving for their C award. I can also assess beginner umpires. Most people shy away from umpiring within the sport but I find it so rewarding and it’s helped me massively within my own game. #TeamWhite
Kate Clements – Treasurer
Mum to Cassie, Abby and Megan and a whole collection of animals at home. I love all sports but mainly spend my time watching the girls or power walking with our dogs. My husband and I own a courier company of which I am Finance Director and love working with numbers so of course helping out with the club is extremely rewarding. I also volunteer at the local primary school with reading, cooking and as a school governor there and at a primary school in Thetford as really believe every child should be given opportunities to thrive no matter what their circumstances.
Tina Taylor – Welfare and Safeguarding Officer
I have been part of Thetford Netball Club since January 2017 as a supporting parent. As a qualified Safeguarding lead Professional in my “real job” I felt this role would be well suited. I have attended recent training that is relevant (Time to talk) for this role
Zara Veasey – Publicity officer
It is my job to promote the Club, what we do for our community and also what we are achieving as a club. I have been playing netball from a very young age. I started back at Thetford 3 years ago after having a break from netball to have children. Since then I have progressed on to complete my level one coaching qualification, I am also the captain of Thetford senior B team and play in the regional team. I have always had a passion for netball I love the competitive edge and sense of achievement you get out of the sport. I am also looking forward to progressing my coaching in the future with the club.
